日帝藝術HELIOS GALLREY

鄭農軒CHENG NUNG-HSUAN(b.1983)

1983年生於台北，畢業於國立台北藝術大學美術系。早年作品以抹除、塗改的人像繪畫，作出對於日常社交關係的自我情感詮釋。近期創作透過古典繪畫在藝術史各時期中豎立的敘事方法與造型模式，加以拼湊、模擬、重塑，製造猶如觀看舞台劇般的奇幻感，來尋找觀者與作品間有形與無形的距離，以及台灣因為歷史時空等因素，在接受西方藝術文明的間接途徑中，所產生的落差與不連續狀態。2008年於台北朝代藝術畫廊首次舉辦「如此這般的日子」個展，其作品曾獲得台灣美術新貌獎、高雄獎、九十四年青年藝術作品徵件，並收藏於國立台灣美術館。近期展覽紀錄：2019年大阪藝術博覽會、新加坡Instinc Art Space、台北誠品畫廊、南畫廊。

CHENG NUNG-HSUAN

CHENG Nung-Hsuan was born in Taipei in 1983 and graduated from the Taipei National University of Arts in 2006. During his early works, CHENG made the conscious decision to move away from figurative portrait painting, by erasing the facial expression from his subjects’ faces to reveal their raw emotion. In recent times, he embarks on a new series, rendering his human figures distortedly. Needless to say, he has moved further into abstraction, creating a new exploration of abstraction and expressive portraiture. To comprehend the reason for him to focus on the chasm between Western Art and the “Western painting” under Japanese' understanding, one must be aware that the development of Arts in Taiwan has historically been influenced by Japan. Around the middle years of the colonial period, Taiwanese artists had been unavoidably influenced by Western art, notably French Impressionism, as Japan followed their example in its drive for modernization.

Figures & Hands

我選了幾張近年(2018-2019)畫的有一些人、一些手，大都是系列作品初期，帶有實驗與嘗試的作品展出。這些小創作有時候很難去跟中大型的作品互動，單獨而論又嫌力量不足。我想，在新的一年，是個不錯的時機把這些細瑣的冰山一角集合起來，拼成個版圖，回望過去兩年間的創作流動。
